Black Bear Down

After 2 months and 9 separate target attacks, I finally shot this black bear at 20 yards while with with my 6 year old son at the range. He was less than 20 yeards from target #6, which he had turned in to a pile of foam the night before. We were picking up foam pieces when we heard the rustling in the brush. Single shot with my 7mm magnum straight through the heart put an end to his target trashing days. OWFD classified this a damage bear and re-issued my bear tag. This was not the monster bear that took out the Trophy white tail target 5 months ago, but was the culprit that matched the tracks around the last 8 attacks. The meat and hide were undamaged and are hanging in the cooler for processing.

October 2009 In Between Seasons League

The Bow Range is excited to host a fall tournament league in conjunction with S&J Archery of Sam's Valley. Entry fees are $100 for the 5 week event. Fees cover park admission and the retail cost of the prizes listed below. Shooters will meet at 4pm on Sunday afternoons at the range. All shooters will be assigned a number and a starting target. There will be a shotgun start, meaning shooters will go with their group to their assigned target and at the sound of the gun, the groups at each target will begin the course. This way we can get a large group through the course in 1.5 hours. Shooters must turn in their score sheets that night to be scored. The scores will be tallied and the top shooters will recieve the prizes listed below. We will have the grill cranking and burgers, dogs and sodas will be available for a pocket book friendly price.  Signs up starts Labor Day. It would be helpful for us to get your entry fees in early so we can plan accordingly.
